On 21 January 2016, Ventzeslav Sabev, Vice-President of the Geneva Spiritual Appeal, met with His Holiness Neofit, Patriarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in Geneva. Mr Sabev updated His Holiness of the preparation of the conference and officially invited the Bulgarian Orthodox Church to send a representative. Patriach Neofit blessed the initiative and expressed particular interest in the Panel dedicated on "Values and Religions", on March 12.
The Head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church arrived in Geneva to participate in the Panorthodox Council, together with the heads of all other Orthodox Churches. The Bulgarian delegation included Metropolitans Ioan of Varna and Seraphim of Nevropok. In the first meeting of the Council Patriarch Neofit called Sister Orthodox Churches to adopt a common vision and speak with a same voice, while seeking unity. He commented on the high public interest in this forum, which raises expectations to reach an agreement.
